Jenny gave me specific tools to help me navigate the choppy waters of dealing with several significant losses over a short period of time. She validated my perceptions and perspectives while at the same time offering me alternative ways of looking at situations that brought clarity, understanding, acceptance, and peace. Her calm empathy was what I needed (not someone to tell me “everything will be okay”, but to say “that seems really difficult and I can see how much it affects you”) and gave me a safe place to release so much I was holding in and holding back. I experienced profound healing and continue to do so. Jenny helped me see (and cherish) my mom in a new light and that has made all the difference as my mom’s life was coming to its end. On a larger view, Jenny also validated my own purpose in this world and reminded me that there are many different ways we can share our gifts with the world.
with deep gratitude and respect

Wellness coach, yoga teacher, author, speaker July 2015
.

Ah. Bless you Peggy. I’m so privileged to have been part of your story. Peggy tracked me down from a you tube video I had recorded with one of my esteemed US colleagues and our sessions were conducted by Skype from the US. Peggy was sooo ready to open up to new concepts and so embracing of challenges. I was humbled by how this wonderful woman allowed herself to absorb the messages she needed to hear from me and to go away and use them in her life! She is truly a giant in world of personal development and someone who is clearly walking her talk.

.
I went to Jenny not quite knowing what the issue was, but knowing I was fed up and needed to change. No two sessions were the same and Jenny didn’t stick to one prescriptive method, which allowed for a better understanding of the real root of the issue.
My life went through substantial change during my sessions with Jenny and I truly feel that without the ‘pre-emptive strike’ I would not have coped.
I feel vastly more confident and in control of my life and very comfortable with my emotions, I have the knowledge and confidence to continue to improve and make out of life what I want it to be.
I would highly recommend Jenny to anyone who is ready to do the work and really looking change their situation. Karen (not real name) July 2015
.

Karen (not real name) was a very private person and tentatively and somewhat stoically presented herself for a ‘re-boot’.  She was trapped, as are many people, in her way of looking at the world which was confirmed by all of those around her. Allowing her deepest beliefs to be challenged in our sessions was truly an act of courage. We spread her 6 life changing sessions over around 4 months so that she had the time and space to process each of the lessons she had learned from each 2 hour meeting. Karen was an ideal client to work with and I’m very pleased she rolled up her sleeves and decided to invest herself in this life changing work.

.
Jenny was recommended by a friend who had received psychotherapy for a fear of flying. I was suffering from post-viral fatigue. Although my illness was not extreme (weak legs and some dizziness) I had begun to realise that these symptoms had both physical and psychological effects. I felt worse when I was anxious or stressed. My sessions with Jenny allowed me to openly discuss these situations and begin to think about different lifestyle choices. Getting a better balance on work and home allowed me to get out of the vicious circle I was in. I am now a lot better and feel pretty much back to normal. Although this may sound obtuse, I actually feel I am in a better ‘place’ for being ill and I have now established a better balance than before.I would thoroughly recommend Jenny and would have no hesitation in going back if I need to.Anonymous May 2013
.

This client preferred to be quoted anonymously.  He couldn’t afford the time to be ill and wanted some practical help and focus to overcome his mindset that was stuck, as he says, in a vicious circle. It was my pleasure to be able to support that development in just 2 sessions! A tribute to his tenacity and keenness to learn.

.
I contacted Jenny when I was going through a very low time in my life and needed someone to speak to.
After just a few sessions of listening to my my problems she helped me change the way I looked at life and most importantly the way I looked at myself.
Jenny helped me regain control of my life again which is an amazing feeling after having lost my way altogether!
I would highly recommend contacting Jenny for support now matter how big or small you feel your issue may be.
A BIG thank you to Jenny Lynn, she has helped me turn my life around!
Neika – April 2015
.

This testimonial came in out of the blue in April 2015 about 2 years after I had seen this young woman. Neika, like many, was stuck in her own self punishing reality. We all do this to some degree or another. By internalising other people’s behaviour towards us and believing the groundless accusations of others, we lose sight of the beautiful gem at our core. If I can help young people see through the mire and appreciate their true selves, then my work is done! Thank you for your words honey!

.
I came to my first session experiencing constant pain from what had been diagnosed as Fibromyalgia Syndrome and also arthritis. As a consequence of this I was depressed, very lacking in  energy and fearful that, aged 70, maybe nothing would change in the future, given that I had been told there was no cure for fibromyalgia and medical interventions at the time were not helping. My hope was that hypnotherapy might help me to discover the source of my pain. My understanding was that fibromyalgia could be caused by emotional stress and I had questioned whether this might be so in my case. I was very aware that I had long-held and unresolved issues regarding grief and loss. What I least expected to happen was that I was able, through hypnosis, to let go of those very painful losses and move on with my life.

I now feel like a different person: the depression has lifted, I feel lighter in both mind and body and have new energy to get on and live my life, instead of being trapped in constant questioning about the past. My past experiences will always be part of me, but I can now accept they are not the whole of me.

I am currently on a new medication regime which has eased the pain I was experiencing but I don’t believe this entirely explains why I feel so different.

I experienced Jenny to be a very caring and insightful therapist and my work with her has been a positive, life-affirming experience which I would thoroughly recommend to others.

This lady preferred to not be named but was happy to be known for what she does.  This is a typical mind body healing that I have witnessed many times with clients.  Once the mind lets go of the need to remain ill, the body seems to just spring back to its natural equilibrium.  This lady, I understand, is now off steroids and is still experiencing all the benefits.  In my opinion, the steroids gave some relief while we worked on the psycho-emotional-spiritual body and her need to be ill has now expired.

“Thanks to Jenny and a lot of Hard work! I have managed to turn my life around. I had quite severe OCD, no girlfriend and no life. I found working through and talking about all my problems past and present as encouraged by Jenny, helped lessen the hold of OCD over me, and helped me build my confidence up. Jenny’s positive attitude towards OCD is quite different to people who I spoke to before who train you on how to live with it, rather than what Jenny does, to get to heart of the problem. I now have days I have no OCD symptom’s. I’m also now getting married, and have never been happier. Its not easy! But if you put in the work, you can change things for yourself!”Tom Hardy December 2012
.

Tom came to see me originally several years before. He had pretty much resigned himself to his condition so he didn’t take more from therapy than just symptom treatment. When he returned a few years later, I asked him what it was he really wanted to achieve in his life and told him that if he was prepared to work towards it, which may not be easy, we could get him there.  The above are his words as he wrote them to me December 2012.

.
I have suffered from depression and anxiety for many years and the symptoms have been treated with a variety of methods from group therapy, drugs and counselling but not the underlying causes. Late last year I stumbled across Jenny,  I was depressed and my anxiety levels were very high with a lot of stress at work. Jenny put me at my ease and to begin with we just did “crisis management” and coaching in preparation for events at work. As the situation at work eased, we were able to deal with some of the underlying causes of my depression and anxiety using a variety of techniques. I found the EMDR particularly helpful for dealing with traumas from the past. Jenny was very patient and although challenging never made me go further or faster than I was ready to go. I attended an assertiveness course run by Jenny and that also helped me along the way to recovery. I still listen to the course recordings when I feel I need a refresher course to deal with some looming situation.  The recovery process was quite slow at first but towards the end of my sessions with Jenny I could see for myself the improvement since the previous session. I know that this time I have dealt not only with the symptoms but also the underlying causes and can now look forward to a more positive future. Thanks Jenny carry on doing what you do because it  works!

This lady preferred not to be named but she was with me mostly weekly, sometimes fortnightly for around 4 to 5 months.  People often show up for therapy when they are in deep crisis.  When this is the case, there is a limit to how much change work can really take place because all of the body’s resources are spent getting through the crisis.  In this lady’s case, I adopted a model that suited where she was at each stage along her journey with me – not expecting profound changes in the middle of trauma – and then working with deeper issues once the urgency to ‘survive’ had passed. Again, working challengingly when appropriate, it is possible with an integrated approach to get right to the core of the recurring anxieties or depression creating insight, so that the individual takes charge of their own mental and emotional experience.

.
I have no problem at all in highlighting the expert advice and guidance I have received from you.You have been an inspiration to me and guided me through some very difficult times, your CD has been a LIFE LINE for me, in times of anxiety and stress, I’ve often been awake at night frightened and very alone. The calm and familiality of your voice has helped me to handle it and feel everythings going to be alright. Thanks again.
Karen B  – September 09

Karen came through in crisis, but in her case, the roots of it didn’t go quite so deep.  Karen was looking for some sense in the confusion she was feeling in life and needed some help with context and perspective.  We probably saw each other weekly to start, and then fortnightly for around 4 months.  Karen looked visibly different when she left therapy: her face less strained and her energy much lighter.

.
Thank You!
I wanted to write and say thank you for your help and support. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I came along to see you, but in just two sessions you have helped me beyond measure.  You did exactly what I asked and helped me get back to the person I usually am.  I have had a few moments over the last few weeks where I have felt some anxiety but have used the methods you showed me and have felt a lot better.  I had a really tough, long day yesterday and started to feel a bit out of control, I again used your eye movement method, which helped me gain some clarity and see what the problem was (and realise it wasn’t really a problem).  I have also used your relaxation methods to help me sleep and have been getting up and writing when I can’t relax, it is all working for me.Thank you so much for everything, you truly do an amazing job!  I have recommended you to lots of people!  It really helps that you have such a great web page, I can just direct them there!  It’s been interesting to hear other people who have been looking for a long time for the right therapist and have tried things that haven’t worked.  Your flexible/combination approach seems quite rare and the people I talk to are very excited about it – hopefully they will make that first step and pick up the phone to you!

I would be happy for you to use my case as a testimonial and whilst I am not embarrassed I think i would prefer if you used a different name, please!

This lady preferred not to be named too. Some people come with an open mind just wanting some validation and confirmation that they can recover their equilibrium. And this lady was a case in point. She was very prepared to just work on what needed working on without fear.  I worked again with her with Eye Movement which creates profound life changes as it’s fast and effective, and usually permanent.  Clearly, this one approach will not work with everyone but it can truly move a person forward and onto the next phase of their lives.

“Would like to say that OM life skills course allowed me to learn to embrace and celebrate being myself and has given me the techniques and skills with which to handle situations and relationships that I used to find difficult. The self hypnosis sessions I recently attended complimented my previous learning and enabled me to develop my inner spiritual strength which has been both calming and refreshing.”Suzanne M – Summer 08
.

Suzanne was ready to go when she joined my course! She absorbed the experience easily and used the lessons to celebrate being herself. She says it all in her testimonial here!

.
“I would like to say that Jenny has been an incredible inspiration to me firstly through hypnotherapy and psychotherapy and her ME support group and secondly through her Life Skills course. I first came to Jenny 4 years ago following 9 years of ME and a lifetime of anxiety. Her understanding and guidance has started me on my journey to wellness both of mind and body. It has been a long and often painful journey but at least now I have hope and above all self belief”.Kim B – Autumn 08
.

Kim was my first ever client with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome who really didn’t want me to treat it!  She’d been round the block a few times with alternative therapists of one sort or another and came to me for something other than her ME. It was as we worked that we saw the connections and her ME started to improve.  At the last count, she was mainly well and functional.  She has learned to recognise her ‘ME/CFS thinking’ and now understands how she can help herself. I owe alot to Kim as she started me out on my quest to understand CFS and how it can be treated successfully.

“I have been on two courses that Jenny has run: Effective Communication and Self Hypnosis.  I have found that these courses have helped me a great deal as I was diagnosed with MS 3 years ago. At the time I felt like my life had been pulled from under me and had lost a lot of self confidence.  With doing these courses I have been able to look at myself and say yes, I have this illness but it is not going to stop me.  I put this to the test this year by going on holiday for the first time in six years and not just a holiday on the beach but a skiing holiday; one that I never thought I would be able to do again.  I would say that I still  have a way to go but doing these courses have helped me so much and I would recommend anyone to give them a go as they get you to look at yourself from a different angle and that’s not a bad thing.  Thanks Jenny”Rob N – June 08
.

Rob wanted help for an issue a few years before he attended the course that I ran at that time.  He’d just had his diagnosis of MS which was challenging to say the least.  Rob is still in my environment around and about, because, as a result of working with me, he was inspired to become a Buddhist! It always amazes me when people decide they like so much what kind of energy they get from my therapy approach, that they want to find out how to do it themselves! I can’t divide my Buddhist insights from my therapeutic insights – to me they are just about loving who we are and celebrating our lives.  And I’m even more amazed that sometimes, Christians too will seek me out because of my spirituality! I’m always happy to work with people with a faith. I believe we all need to be able to get some inspiration to be able to have new insights into our own faith.

.
There is life after transition through retirement!
I am a 64 yr old professional woman who retired in August 2011. I was traumatised by the sudden loss of work and facing endless days of nothingness. I then saw my GP who prescribed anti depressants and suggested counselling.
Jenny’s contact details were given to me by a fellow client of Jenny’s. I called her at once and when she asked me when I could see her I replied ‘yesterday’!
On meeting, at once I felt at ease, supported and enabled. She asked me about my life, my presenting problem and let me talk for at least an hour! She took me back to my childhood, teenage years, first marriage, professional life and present problems with such ease that I felt an immediate release of a burden that had weighed me down until my forehead almost touched the ground. I’m standing almost upright now!
We met weekly for about 6-8 weeks, then fortnightly, and then latterly monthly.
I trusted Jenny to guide me through traumas and dramas in my life, to help me see that the ‘little girl’ was loveable, the woman was worthy of love and affection, but most importantly, to love and like herself.
We laughed alot, and I cried alot and I will always be thankful that the wreck that turned up on Jenny’s doorstep was rescued.

Jenny is a gentle, loving woman who allows you to be yourself in the time you are with her, with a genuine depth of regard for you – her client.  Seek professional help – do not be swayed by people who poo-poo counselling and therapists. I can’t recommend Jenny at Open Mind Highly enough.  She saved my life.”

Anne D September 2012

.

Anne was at a stage in her life, and I have seen many such people – men and women – who wonder what happens after retirement. It is one of THE most challenging times for people who formerly found a sense of mission or value from their work who are then plunged into relative dependency and fear of being useless. If there are any latent issues lurking that work kept at bay, now’s the time that they’ll come up – big time!  There are all sorts of adjustment issues that happen on leaving work, selling your business, or just generally trying to let go of the reigns of working life. Anne was no exception but I’m so happy I was able to help her through her challenges and be able to clear the way for her to enjoy her retirement.

.
I’d always had high ambition in my work and never questioned that some day I would be a successful businessman. However, in my personal life, I was often left feeling like the lodger! Perhaps divorce was always inevitable, but for me, when it happened it completely floored me. I had to step right away from my business, take stock, and reevaluate my priorities in life. Jenny helped me navigate a difficult time and get myself back on track. Now, I’m not only refocussed, but more balanced and more fulfilled, both with work and in my private life. Jenny’s approach was no nonsense, constructive, empathic, and direct. I really appreciated this window of sanity once a week. It was a godsend! Thank you!“Darren Taylor, Chairman. Holroyd Components Ltd
.

Darren arrived in a personal crisis that had turned his life upside down.  Darren needed someone who would be compassionately strict when he was at a low ebb and someone who could help refocus him onto the value of his own life after rejection.  It is a common story that people lose sight of themselves and their intrinsic value when husbands/wives reject them.  The crisis generated tends to consume every moment of every day. It takes someone from outside sometimes to be able to help with a re-establishing a sense of self and to help on the healing journey.
